چکیده

Heat conduction in a ne scale mixture of two conductors is examined in the presence of a contact resistance between phases. The problem is studied rigorously in the context of periodic homogenization. Unlike the case of perfect heat transmission between phases, the temperature elds studied here may converge weakly in L to the homogenized temperature. The temperature gradients converge weakly as Radon measures. The strict ellipticity of the homogenized transport equation depends upon the geometry of the interface. The e ective conductivity associated with the overall heat dissipation rate inside a composite cube is considered. It is shown that this property exhibits a size e ect under rescaling.

A TRANSIENT TWO-DIMENTIONAL INVERSE ESTIMATION OF THE METAL-MOLD HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT DURING SQUEEZE CASTING of AL-4.5WT%CU

In this paper, a transient, two-dimensional and nonlinear inverse heat conduction problem in solidification process is considered. Genetic algorithm is applied for the identification of the interfacial heat transfer coefficients during squeeze casting of commercial aluminum alloy (Al-4.5wt%Cu) by assuming a priori information regarding the functional form of the unknown heat transfer coefficien...

EVALUATION OF PRESSURE EFFECT ON HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT AT THE METAL- MOLD INTERFACE FOR CASTING OF A356 AL ALLOY

Abstract: During solidification and casting in metallic molds, the heat flow is controlled by the thermal resistance at the casting-mold interface. Thus heat transfer coefficient at the metal- mold interface has a predominant effect on the rate of heat transfer. In some processes such as low pressure and die-casting, the effect of pressure on molten metal will affect the rate of heat transfer a...

Heat conduction through a trapped solid: effect of struc- tural changes on thermal conductance

– We study the conduction of heat across a narrow solid strip trapped by an external potential and in contact with its own liquid. It is possible to produce structural changes in the trapped solid by altering the depth of the confining potential. We find, using nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulations, supported wherever possible by simple analytical calculations, the thermal resistance in...

Interfacial thermal conduction and negative temperature jump in one-dimensional lattices.

We study the thermal boundary conduction in one-dimensional harmonic and ϕ^{4} lattices, both of which consist of two segments coupled by a harmonic interaction. For the ballistic interfacial heat transport through the harmonic lattice, we use both theoretical calculation and molecular dynamics simulation to study the heat flux and temperature jump at the interface as to gain insights into the ...

The Conduction of Heat from Sliding Solids

Ah&act-The large scale restrictions to heat flow from two sliding solids can have a significant effect on the temperature field near the interface. It is shown that a practical system can be approximated to two semi-intinite solids whose temperatures at infinity are related to the heat flow rates through them. A number of existing semi-infinite solid solutions am generalised to allow for a diff...
